Day 1 - Arrive Cairns

Welcome reception and tour briefing at Australian Rainforest Foundation HQ.
Evening bird watching at Cairns foreshore overlooking the Coral Sea.

Day 2 - Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail rainforest canopy tour

Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, Cairns Australia, is a world first in environmental tourism taking you on an amazing experience over Australia's World Heritage listed Tropical Rainforest canopy and deep into the forest. The Skyrail experience, spanning 7.5kms over pristine rainforest, allows you to explore the wonders of an ancient tropical rainforest and learn about one of the most botanically fascinating and diverse areas on earth.

The cableway will take you above the forest canopy to enjoy our World Heritage listed Rainforest. Then spend some time exploring Kuranda 'the village in the rainforest' before departing on the world famous Kuranda Scenic Railway. This amazing journey will stop at Barron Gorge and cross the impressive Stoney Creek Bridge on its way to Freshwater Station and then on to Cairns Station.

Day 3 - Daintree Rainforest Expedition, day 1

Travel to the World Heritage Listed Daintree National Park with Tour Guide Corey Wild and Australian Rainforest Foundation naturalists in a luxury 4 x 4. Explore the Daintree River looking for crocodiles and pythons before arriving at ARF Daintree HQ. Full field briefing and issue of expedition clothing and equipment. Watch the sun set while sipping on champagne on Cape Tribulation Beach before returning to a guided night walk in the rainforest to see the various nocturnal rainforest animals. Enjoy a gourmet BBQ at ARF HQ before retiring to safari cabins for the night.

Day 4 - Daintree Rainforest Expedition, day 2

Trek the rainforest looking for the elusive cassowary bird. Collect rainforest fruits and seeds for propagation in the ARF nursery and help plant rainforest trees as part of a rainforest rehabilitation project.

Day 5 - Daintree Rainforest Expedition, day 3

Morning river trek in Cooper Creek observing the many water birds, mangrove life and possibly the silent crocodile from the safety of the river boat.

Picnic lunch deep in the Daintree rainforest. In the afternoon, the team will erect jungle tents in a rainforest clearing and set up field cameras to observe animal behaviour. Spend the night in the Daintree rainforest.

Day 6 - Daintree Rainforest Expedition, day 4

Return to ARF HQ and transfer to Yungaburra in the Atherton Tablelands. Exclusive visit to Biodiscovery laboratory to learn about the exciting new cancer drugs being developed from rainforest plants. Overnight stay with, dinner, bed and breakfast in a Garden Cottage at Eden House Retreat and Mountain Spa. A luxury boutique resort with an award winning restaurant, beautifully appointed cottage and villa accommodation and a world class Day Spa. Platypus viewing and tree kangaroo spotting are all within a short stroll from the resort.

Day 7 - Tablelands Bird Safari

ARF's guide will take you on a personalized bird life safari through the Atherton Tablelands including exclusive access to Mareeba Wetlands and private rainforest in the foothills of Cairns. Stay overnight at Jabiru Safari Lodge at Mareeba in a deluxe, ensuited, African style, tented safari cabin located in a 2000ha Wildlife Refuge just an hour from Cairns. Activities include a sunset wildlife safari in our open-sided vehicle with wine and cheese, 12km of marked walking trails, canoeing and eco-cruising. Dinner and Breakfast are included.

Day 8 - Cairns Habitat Cruises

Transfer to Cairns in the morning and enjoy a calm water cruise while discovering the secrets of mangroves and the wildlife and the history and culture of the harbour and its trade. See crocodiles and a variety of native birds in their natural habitat, and then get really close to crocodiles during the Crocodile Farm Tour.

Day 9 - Great Barrier Reef Exploration

Cruise to Green Island with Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises. Enjoy a full day cruise aboard "Big Cat" from Cairns with your own expert Reef Guide. Activities include snorkeling, buffet lunch, glass bottom boat and semi submersible coral viewing tours, relaxing on the beach and exploring Green Island National Park.

Day 10 - Undara Experience/Helicopter Sky Safari

From the blues and greens of the coast to the reds of the outback. Join Sky Safari for a scenic helicopter flight over the reef and tablelands before arriving at Undara Experience in the outback. Join a Wildlife at Sunset Tour before a 3 course country dinner and overnight in hundred year old restored railway carriage. Wake with a Bush Breakfast and head to the underground and the oldest lava tubes in the world. Rejoin your pilot and head back to Cairns with a helicopter return run in conjunction with Sky Safari.

Day 11 - Outback Wildlife Tour

ARF's Guide will take you on a personalised tour of Australia's outback, visiting private cattle stations to see Australia's native kangaroo in their natural environment and meet the animals and plants of the Australian bush in a habitat of crystal clear spring fed creeks and waterfalls, huge termite mounds and carnivorous plants.

Day 12 - Hot Air Balloon & Tour

Experience hot air ballooning, west of Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef, over the Atherton Tablelands. See World Heritage listed rainforest and kangaroos in their natural environment. Afterwards there's a champagne breakfast in our outback cafe. Drink in the stillness of the bush surrounds and say cheers to the unique experience of your very first balloon ride. Take the long way back to Cairns visiting the Southern Atherton Tablelands and the resort town of Mission Beach.

Day 13 - Cassowary Walkabout

Search for the illusive endangered cassowary with a rainforest walk at Mission Beach and enjoy lunch by a clear rainforest stream. Walk the 4 miles of tropical beach and enjoy a swim in the Coral Sea before watching the sun set with tropical cocktails.

Day 14 - Sustainable Farm Day

Visit a sustainable farm and learn how this farmer is attempting to balance agriculture in a sensitive World Heritage Listed environment. Transfer back to Cairns for a debrief and farewell dinner hosted by the ARF.

Day 15 - Transfer to Airport
